Using data effectively in an organisation requires alignment between business problems, team readiness, and management’s strategic direction. On 7 September 2023, Sadasa delivered a Data Science for Executives workshop for PT Adaro Indonesia in Tabalong, connecting data science concepts with the mining industry context.
The material covered data science fundamentals, roles and competencies within a data team, and examples of analytics supporting business decisions. It also addressed the importance of problem definition, data quality, and management support when planning projects. Examples from the public sector, corporations, and mining illustrated how organisational needs relate to opportunities to use data.
The workshop included discussion worksheets for mapping business functions, problem statements, analytics questions, and key initiatives. The exercises were designed to help participants connect operational challenges with the company’s strategic objectives, providing a basis for prioritising initiatives and developing a data science project roadmap.
